Pawòl, tèks é son is a video and sound work created in collaboration with Guadeloupean writers Murielle Clodine-Florent, Daria-Hamlèt Couvin, Sarah Turquoisie Couvin, and Dory Sélèsprika. Born from the Ti-pwen Poétik public program (2023), this project reimagines the original recordings into a new video piece, blending literature, oral performance, and electroacoustic compositions.
The work explores the richness of Guadeloupean Creole as a living, evolving language, rooted in the island’s social and geographical realities. Through the voices of the authors, Pawòl, tèks é son highlights the diversity of Creole expressions across regions like Côte-sous-le-vent and Nord Grande-Terre, where language becomes a tool of resistance, freedom, and cultural identity.

Sound piece based on the recorded readings of Murielle Clodine-Florent, Diane Hamot, Dory Sélèsprika and Sarah Turquoisie Couvin, during Mwa Kréyòl, October 2023. Broadcast through the loudspeakers of the University Library of Fouillole, the project sought to disrupt the socially constructed silence of the space by bringing in Guadeloupean-language literature. The presentation was followed by a discussion with the authors, and animation based on Guadeloupean langage, with linguist Benzo.
